Things to do in Hermanus
Considering that whales can be seen from as close as a few metres from the rocky cliffs, Hermanus deserves its title of best land based whale watching in the world from about June to December, when their calving and mating season begins. Many boat tours are also available, offering a special opportunity to see these gentle giants of the ocean up close.
There are several beaches in Hermanus – all unique in their own way; from the expansive Grotto Beach to the unnamed little beaches found in nooks along the coastline. Hermanus has beaches that surfers love, beaches that are favourites with children, beaches that are perfect for shore fishing and beaches more easily accessible to the disabled or elderly.
