Whale Watching
Considering that whales can be seen from as close as a few metres from the rocky cliffs, Hermanus deserves its title of best land based whale watching in the world from about June to December, when their calving and mating season begins. Many boat tours are also available, offering a special opportunity to see these gentle giants of the ocean up close.
Hemel en Aarde ValleyEnjoy a drive through the lush Hemel en Aarde Valley. This picturesque valley offers and array of activities such as Horse-riding, Mountain-biking and, most notably, world-class wines and meals at various exceptional restaurants and wine farms. You can also do a wine-hopper safari in this region to ensure you get to explore the best that “Heaven and Earth” has to offer.
Visit the Beach

There are several beaches in Hermanus – all unique in their own way; from the expansive Grotto Beach to the unnamed little beaches found in nooks along the coastline. Hermanus has beaches that surfers love, beaches that are favourites with children, beaches that are perfect for shore fishing and beaches more easily accessible to the disabled or elderly. An important note for all pet-lovers is that most of the Hermanus beaches are dog-friendly!
